Willy Sagnol Prepares for Albania Match: Tactical Changes Ahead

Willy Sagnol, the French head coach of the Georgian national football team, addressed the media in Saguramo ahead of their upcoming match against Albania.

Reflecting on the recent defeat to Ukraine, Sagnol acknowledged that a poor start played a significant role in the loss. “We began the game against Ukraine poorly, which contributed to our failure. I’m optimistic that we can improve in the match against Albania,” he stated.

Sagnol also commented on Saba Lobzhanidze’s absence from the squad, explaining that it wasn’t just the fatigue from travel that affected him, but also challenges in adapting to the tactical system.

He highlighted issues on the left wing during the match against Ukraine, which were also evident in certain phases of the game against the Czech Republic. “It’s not Lochoshvili’s fault; he performed well in attack,” Sagnol remarked. He also confirmed that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is fit and prepared to play.

When the question of potential tactical adjustments and personnel changes arose, Sagnol maintained a sense of mystery. He acknowledged that he had already made decisions about replacing Kochorashvili and any tactical shifts, but he kept the details under wraps.

“We are again the team that succeeded in Euro 2024. It is necessary to keep our values, discipline and continue to move forward”, said Sagnol.

The Georgian national team, currently leading their group in the B division, will face Albania on October 14 at 20:00 at the Mikheil Meskhi Stadium.
