Vladimir Kumaritashvili, the president of the Georgian Roller Sports Federation and head coach of the national team, has passed away, as confirmed by the National Olympic Committee of Georgia.
“The National Olympic Committee of Georgia expresses deep sorrow over the death of Vladimer Kumaritashvili, the President of the National Federation of Sports of Georgia, and expresses its condolences to his family and relatives,” the condolence letter states.
According to reports, Vladimer Kumaritashvili was struggling with severe illness.
Kumaritashvili was also known as the cousin of Nodar Kumaritashvili, who tragically died during a qualifying run at the Whistler track just before the Vancouver Olympics on February 12, 2010. His contributions to Georgian sports will be fondly remembered.
