Ugandan Olympian Rebecca Cheptegei has passed away. The 33-year-old athlete was attacked by her ex-boyfriend, who poured gasoline on her and then set her on fire. Despite doctors’ efforts, she could not be saved.
The attacker himself has minor burns and is currently under the observation of doctors.
Cheptegei finished the marathon in the 44th place at the Olympic Games in Paris.
