On September 9, Dutch forward Memphis Depay was officially signed by Brazilian club “Corinthians”.
In reaction to the transfer, Dutch national team captain Ronald Koeman commented on the situation. He noted that Depay’s move to Brazil differs significantly from Steven Bergwijn’s transfer to Saudi Arabia. The captain highlighted that the Brazilian league is of a higher standard and stated that if Depay is fit, he will be included in the national team.
“Depay’s situation is not at all similar to Bergwine’s. The Brazilian league is of a much higher level and different. If Memphis is ready, he will play in the national team.”- stated Koeman.
