Boxer Oleksandr Usyk, the world champion in the super heavyweight division, was arrested for speeding at the airport in Krakow, Poland. Reports indicate he was late and exceeded the speed limit while driving.
Finally, the athlete was released with the intervention of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“I spoke to Oleksandr Usyk on the phone when he was busy. I was outraged by such treatment of a citizen and champion of our country. I instructed the Ministers of Internal Affairs and Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to immediately clarify all the details of the incident.
As I was informed, everything is fine now. “Our champion was released and no one will arrest him,”- wrote the president of Ukraine on the social network.
