Giorgi Mamardashvili, the goalkeeper of the national team of Georgia and “Valencia”, is a nominee for the Yashin Trophy 2024, i.e. the “Golden Ball” established for the best goalkeeper, reports the publication goal.com .
The “Golden Ball” has been awarded to just one goalkeeper, Lev Yashin, in 1963. To highlight the achievements of more goalkeepers, France Football established the Yashin Trophy in 2019 to honor the best goalkeeper of the season.
Past winners of the trophy are Thibaut Courtois and Emiliano Martinez. This year’s awards ceremony is scheduled for October 28.
