The Paris Paralympic Games started off with a win for Georgian wheelchair fencer Irma Khetsuriani (category B). She beat the representative of Venezuela, Francia Jaimes Rojas with a score of 15:2 in fencing and will meet a Polish para-athlete in the quarterfinals.
Irma Khetsuriani is the world and European champion in wheelchair fencing and a 21-time winner of the World Cup.
So far Georgia has two medals at the Paris Paralympics: Giga Ochkhikidze won the gold, while 19-year-old para-taekwondoist Ana Japaridze claimed bronze.
