In a thrilling showdown in Abu Dhabi, Ilia Topuria successfully defended his UFC lightweight championship title against former champion Max Holloway.
The fight kicked off with the Georgian athlete quickly seizing control, remaining active in standing and taking Holloway to the ground several times.
The second round also took place with the advantage of Topuria. His strategic approach allowed him to dominate the fight, building momentum as the rounds progressed. Topuria gained a decisive superiority in the third round and eventually defeated Holloway by knockout.
The Georgian fighter won the champion’s title in February this year, after defeating Alexander Volkanovski by knockout, and today he defended it for the first time in his career.
With this win, Topuria maintains his undefeated record, 16 victories after 16 matches held in mixed fights.
