Gela Ketashvili – Olympic football champion

Gela Ketashvili, born on September 27, 1965, in Tbilisi, is a former football player who played as a defender.

The main success in Ketashvili’s football career is winning the gold medal at the 1988 Summer Olympic Games in Seoul as part of the Soviet Union football team.

In the history of Georgian football, he is the first and only Georgian player who won this title.

During his club career, he played in several teams, including Tbilisi “Dinamo”, where he was an important player from 1984 to 1990. Gela Ketashvili participated in 137 matches as part of the flagship of Georgian football and scored 4 goals. He also played in “Torpedo” of Kutaisi, “Guria” of Lanchkhuti and “White Eagle”.

Gela Ketashvili is still considered one of the best and most successful Georgian football players.
