Johan Neeskens, the celebrated Dutch football icon, has passed away at the age of 73, according to the Football Federation of the Netherlands.
In his last days, Neeskens was in Algeria for a football project when he fell ill, and despite medical efforts, he was unable to recover.
Neeskens was a prominent football figure of the 1970s. He played two consecutive World Cup finals in 1974 and 1978, and he had a distinguished club career in “Barcelona” and “Ajax”.
